List of metadata

This article covers all of the default metadata fields in Dalux. Metadata is the information about the data in a project, such as files, models, or documents.

The default metadata fields are used by the system and cannot be renamed, deleted, or removed. Custom-created metadata fields are not covered in this article.

Type

Description

Filename Text

The name of the file + extension.

This is used as the unique identifier for a file. A file with the same name will overwrite the previous one.

Version Text Every time a file with the same name is uploaded, this counter increases by one.
Content description Text This metadata field is manually populated and usually contains a plain text description of the content.
Uploaded Time

Timestamp for the upload action according to the project's time zone.

Depending on the file area, this field changes to 'Shared/Published'.

Uploaded by

User

The name of the user, who uploaded the file. If the user changes their name, the value will automatically update.

Depending on the file area, this field changes to 'Shared by/Published by'.

Changed Time Timestamp for the changed action according to the project's time zone.
Changed by User The name of the latest user, who made changes to the file. If the user changes their name, the value will automatically update.
File format Text File extension.
File size Integer number File size in Bytes.
Path Text Full folder path in Dalux
Number Text The drawing number. Used by Dalux to create hyperlinks.
Status List Only used if the 'Status' feature is activated. The list values can be created by the project administrator. Used to trigger files with the File flows feature.
Title Text

This metadata field is used in Locations to display a user-friendly name for the file.

When a new file is uploaded, the "file name" is by default added as the title field. Needs to be changed manually.

Scale Decimal number The scale of the drawing. This also applies when using measuring tools.
Comments Yes/No A checkmark is displayed if open comments are attached to the file.
Markups Yes/No A checkmark is displayed if there are public markups on the file.
Building Text This metadata field is populated with the building name, if the file is attached to a building.
Level Text This metadata field is populated with the level name, if the file is attached to a level.
From BIM file Text The BIM model the file originates from if it is uploaded with a Plugin.
3D Object group Text This contains a 3D object group that has been linked to the file.
Discipline Text Used to sort the drawings in Locations.
Subdiscipline Text Used to sort the drawings in Locations.
In locations Yes/No

A checkmark is displayed if the drawing is visible in Locations.

File type Text

Shows the type of the file. There are 3 types: drawing, document, and model.

The drawing type only supports files with one page.

The document type supports files with multiple pages.

Tender Text Displays which Tender the file is attached to, if any, and which version of the file is attached.
Shared revision Text

Is only used if the shared file area has been activated.

Shows which version of the file is in the shared files area. An asterisk is added if the latest version has metadata changes.

Published revision Text

Is only used if the published file area has been activated.

Shows which version of the file is in the published files area. An asterisk is added if the latest version has metadata changes.

Company Company

The company of the user who uploaded or changed the file.

The list displays the name of the company associated with the latest action taken.

Distribution list Text Lists all distribution lists the file has been added to.
Version sets Text Lists all the version sets the file has been added to.
Latest version in Shared Text Shows the latest version of the file that exists in the shared file area.
Latest version in Published Text Shows the latest version of the file that exists in the published file area.
Latest version in authorization flow Text Shows the latest version of the file that is in an authorization flow.
Latest version in approval flow Text Shows the latest version of the file that is in an approval flow.
