The November 2024 release of Dalux is here (version 2024.5). See our highlighted features, video, and changelog below.
Improvements to Locations | Design | InfraField 3D map |
We have added many new features to Locations. A new one-click search on drawings and 3D object history, and ignore objects while making cuts. Measure the shortest distance between objects in 3D and use 2D laser on drawings. |
We are introducing a new Design feature in Dalux where you can view unpublished models. Using Design and file areas allows you to work with an unpublished model while a published version is available in Locations. |
See your infrastructure projects in the context of the real world with 3D maps. 3D maps act as geometry, and you can do measurements. Use inverted box cuts to see your geometry underground. |

Box
Manual publishing
You can now control the visibility of model files in Locations by using manual publishing. When manual publishing is activated along with file areas, all building files (drawings and models) need to be published before they are available in Locations.
You can read more about manual publishing in this article: How to use manual publishing.
Compare PDF documents in Box
You can now compare versions of documents side-by-side directly in Box Pro. Scrolling is synchronized and locked, so you can compare page by page.

Design
Introducing Dalux Design
Design in Dalux is a new area that combines the well-known features in Locations with
Box.
Model validation has been moved from Box to
Design.
Currently, if you activate manual publishing for buildings, unpublished model and drawing files are only shown in the Design area. Here all the well-known Dalux features are available for cross-team communication and collaboration.
When the model file is moved to published files, the buildings will be available in Locations and can be accessed by everyone on the project.
To learn more details about Design, you can read this article: How to use Design.
(Click the image to enhance)
Compare building version in Design
When using Design with manual publishing you can compare building versions between the Files and Published files area. Comparing models is only available when using the Dalux desktop application.
(Click the image to enhance)
InfraField maps in Design
When using Design and InfraField, map data such as GIS and alignments are supported. This means you can have unpublished and published map data. Only the published data will appear in
Locations, while the unpublished data will be visible in
Design.
InfraField
Quantities in InfraField
Quantities are now available in InfraField Pro. You can use quantities to measure areas or volumes differences between surfaces and/or alignments. You can read more about quantities in InfraField in these articles:

3D map surroundings for InfraField
See your InfraField Pro projects in the context of the real world in 3D, with the new 3D map feature in
Surroundings. Combine zones, point clouds, models, and 3D maps to get a real-world representation of your project.
The 3D map will load as 3D geometry. You can use measurement tools to measure between your model and the 3D map.

Inverted box cut
While using 3D tiles in InfraField, you can create an inverted box cut. This lets you see the 3D geometry in the context of 3D tiles.

Measurements snap to alignments
Cross-section measurements now snap to alignments.
(Click the image to enhance)
Improvements to the longitudinal section view
The section view has been improved and has more options, such as jumping directly to different sections from the longitudinal section view.

Custom map layers and GIS data are shown in the registrations
When creating registrations (tasks or checklists) using a custom map layer along with other visual data, the screenshot/view displayed in the registration now matches the one from which it was created.

Locations
One-click search for registrations on drawings
It’s now easier and faster to find registrations in Locations with one-click searching. Opening a drawing displays a summary tab of all registration types, allowing you to filter and search with a single click.
When you click on a room, the type and number of registrations are shown for that room. The latest image from Capture (Photo albums, 360 photos, or SiteWalk) will be shown as a pop-up as well.
(Click the image to enhance)
3D object history
You can now track changes to 3D objects with the new 3D object history tab. From here you can see if there have been changes to geometry or properties and see the version history. If you are using Design, the data is separated into unpublished and published history.
(Click the image to enhance)
Ignore objects when using cuts
When using cuts in 3D, a selected category or file can be ignored by the cut. Using a combination of cuts and ignored categories/files allows you to see your model from a different perspective than before. Create a cut, and then click on an object from another file or category and choose to ignore it.

Markup scaling
Markups can be scaled to better fit the scale of drawings, preventing oversized markups from obscuring drawing information.

Tender
Changes to Tender user permissions
Access to tenders is now controlled on a per-tender basis.
The current tender responsible user group has been renamed to tender administrators and will remain under Settings
Users
Tender.
This user group will be the only group that can create new tenders. Tender administrators will need to add the tender responsibles, document responsibles, and/or observers to each tender individually.
The new role of tender responsibles can manage all aspects of a tender but cannot create new tenders. The permissions for document responsibles and tender observers have not changed but have been made specific to individual tenders rather than all tenders in the project.
Bidders are moved to Users and have to be managed in this menu.
