Public markups

Public markups allow your design responsible to add public notes to a drawing as important information for all project participants. Unlike comments, public markups are not tied to a communication channel but are visible to all users who have access to the drawing.

Public markups can be used to add remarks about specifications or unapproved parts of the design which are available to your contractors.

How to set up public markups

This feature is always activated in your project. No further setup is needed.

 User rights

To create public markups on a drawing, you need to be part of either the project administrator or project planning manager user group.

How to create public markups

Public markups can always be created in exactly one file area.

  • If only 'Files' is activated: Public markups can be created on Files
  • If 'Files' and 'Published files' are activated: Public markups can be created in Files
  • If 'Files', 'Shared files', and 'Published files' are activated: Public markups can be created in Shared files

To create a new public markup, open a file in the file area and click on Public markups in the toolbar:

Similar to comments, you can now add markups to the drawing with a selection of tools.

When you have added your markups, click on Save to add them to the drawing.

How to remove a public markup

If you want to remove a public markup from a drawing, follow the same steps as before:

Note

Adding or removing public markups from a drawing creates a new sub version of a file if sub versions are enabled. Sub versions, like versions, need to be approved for Shared files or authorized for Published files to be visible for users that only have access to these file areas.
