Basics: Using Dalux Mobile

In this article, we will go over the basic use of the Dalux Mobile. We will go through the different modules and menus in the app so you can start using the Dalux Mobile.

The Home screen

When opening the app, you will be presented with a home screen. You can always return to the home screen by pressing .

The home screen contains a quick overview and shortcuts to the different features of Dalux. The view will depend on your role and permissions in the project, and which features are activated. The home screen is automatically created for you and gives you the necessary information.

At the top, the project name will be shown (this project is called "Mobile App Basics"). You can press here to change between different Dalux projects.

In the top right of the home screen, there is a . By pressing this icon, a new window will appear allowing you to create new registrations.

As you scroll down the home screen, different features you can access will be shown. You can press the buttons to jump to the features quickly.

Inbox

The task inbox will always be displayed at the top. 

In the inbox, the three most recently updated tasks will be displayed. You can press on these tasks to open them. Alternatively, you can press 'Inbox' to open the entire inbox.

You can also press 'Show all folders' to view all task folders, including folders for tasks awaiting approval or closed tasks.

In the inboxes, you can use filters to narrow down what is shown. Press  to open the filter screen. Filters allow you to quickly find the information you need while on the go.

Viewing tasks

You can open a task by pressing on it. You can learn more about tasks here:

When viewing a task, you can press in the upper right corner of the screen. This will give you extra options for the task, which can differ based on your project permissions. You can press to access the response options.

To summarize; the home screen allows you to:

  • Get a quick overview of tasks and access your inbox.
  • Access to ongoing and finished registrations (tasks, checklists, test plans/inspection plans, etc.).
  • Create new registrations, such as tasks, checklists, etc. 

Locations

Press on in the bottom menu to open locations.

In the locations tab, you can access the buildings on the project. Buildings contain BIM models and/or drawings.

You can easily see 3D models and any 2D drawings connected to the building within the app.

You can also use locations to see current registrations or make new registrations.

When you open locations, the last used drawing will show. You can change drawings and buildings by pressing the building/level name at the bottom of the viewer.

Pressing the drawing, you can view registrations in the corresponding area. You can also see room or zone data for the area if available.

You can create new registrations or switch to the 3D BIM Viewer.

Registrations are shown as colored dots on the drawing you are viewing. By default, the filter will show open tasks you are associated with or responsible for.

You can change the filter by pressing at the top. This allows you to show other types of registrations (such as checklists and test plans, inspection plans, etc.). Filtering on drawings works the same as filtering your inbox as shown above.

It is also possible to do basic measurements by pressing .

Box

You can access Dalux Box by pressing in the bottom menu.

In Box, all project documents are organized in folders and sub-folders. Access to these folders is restricted based on your user group, so not everyone on the project can access the same files. 

 Note

You can only upload files using Dalux Mobile if the project does not have custom metadata nor active file flows. When it is possible to upload files, a will appear in the top right corner. Pressing here will allow you to upload files.

You can use the search bar to find files. This search bar uses 'deep search' which also searches for words inside documents.

At the very top, it shows what area of the Box module you are in. You can press here to switch to different areas of Box depending on your permissions.

You can press  next to the folders to download specific folders for offline use.

You can press on the different folders and sub-folders to navigate in the folder structure. Once you find the file you are looking for, press on it to open it.

The More menu

You can open the 'More' menu by pressing the -icon. Here you have several options.

  • Project: From here you can change between Dalux projects or Dalux FM instances.
  • Contacts: This section allows you to search for and locate any user in the project. If a user has provided contact information, such as a phone number, it will be visible here.
  • Groups: In groups, you can see all the different user groups and the members in the groups. This feature can come in handy when trying to find someone on the project but only have information about their role, not their name.
  • Prepare for offline: This lets you download tasks and drawings, if you need to work offline. This is also where previously downloaded content is removed from your device.
  • Scan QR code: Scan Dalux QR codes - for zones, rooms, or 3D objects. Scanning Dalux QR codes will open the location/object and display information or registrations.
  • Help: Opens the Dalux HelpCenter in a web browser.
  • About: This displays information about the app version and your device.
  • Log out: Logs you out of Dalux on the device.

Change personal settings and app language

If you press on your name, it will open your settings.

You can change your contact information (apart from email).

If you need to change the language of Dalux Mobile, it can also be done from this menu.

You can adjust your email notification settings and device-specific settings.
